PSG Wins Champions League Final

The UEFA Champions League title has been held by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)

At the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary on Saturday, the French champions defeated Arsenal 4-3 on penalties to win the 2025–26 edition of the competition.

After 120 minutes, the game was tied 1-1, but PSG maintained composure from the penalty spot to win consecutive European championships.

In the sixth minute, Marquinhos’ midfield clearance deflected into Kai Havertz’s path, and the German slotted past Matvei Safonov to give Arsenal the lead.

After Khvicha Kvaratskhelia drew a foul in the box in the 65th minute, Ousmane Dembù equalized from the penalty spot.

For the first time since the 2015–16 season, the final went to a shootout after neither team could find a winner in extra time.

After misses by Gabriel Magalhães and Eberechi Eze, PSG won 4-3 in the shootout. Magalhães’ final attempt went over the crossbar, giving PSG the victory.

Since Real Madrid won three titles in a row between 2016 and 2018, the Ligue 1 team is the first to win Europe again.

Havertz, who scored for Chelsea in the 2021 Champions League final, joined Mario Mandžukić and Cristiano Ronaldo as the only players to score in the final for two different teams.

Drama erupted in the final stages. The referee dismissed Arsenal’s penalty appeal after a challenge on Noni Madueke during extra time, and both Arteta and Rice received yellow cards for dissent.

In the final seconds of regular time, substitute Bradley Barcola also had an opportunity to win it for PSG, but he went over the bar.

Congratulations to PSG on their well-deserved victory! Your hard work, skill, and determination have truly paid off. Wishing you continued success in the future!

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

QUOTES

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
