The Nigerian dancer Poco Lee has maintained his innocence in the face of rape accusations made against him in the UK while the case is still pending in court.
Poco Lee is accused of two counts of rape, two counts of attempted rape, and two counts of assault by penetration, the UK’s Snaresbrook Crown Court confirmed it in August.
The case was set for plea and trial preparation on September 15, according to James Baker, the court’s administrative team lead.
According to social media reports last Friday, the complainant had either dropped the case or reached an out-of-court settlement, and the dancer had been released from a UK prison.
Poco Lee was freed after being detained for weeks, according to social media influencer Pamilerin Adegoke, while social media star In a live Instagram session on Sunday, VeryDarkMan also verified that the dancer was out of custody.
Poco Lee reaffirmed that he did not commit the sexual offense during the live session, but he did not explicitly confirm his release.
The dancer, whose real name is Iweh Pascal Odinaka, went on to say that if he had been guilty, musician Burna Boy would not have stood by him.
“I feel like they want me to be like I am posting something. You know, as Nigeria is. They want to see another thing. It is when you are now paying attention that raises another thing,” he spoke in pidgin English.
“I was just being myself. My only worry out there was my people, like Jago. He could not do anything business-wise or on social media. I am not a small child to start begging them. They would even frown at such an apology.
“If I did what someone said I did, I would say I am suffering my sins. As I did not do anything, my mind is as pure as anything. No one would want to attach themselves to something like that. And for Burna Boy and Jago to stand for me.
“I am a jolly good fellow. Even when I did not do anything.”
