Bolaji Idowu, a Nigerian pastor, has discussed the value of generosity in relationships and cautioned that a partner’s behavior toward others can reveal their true nature.
The cleric warned against being in relationships with people who make everything about themselves while giving a sermon on mending a broken marriage and relationship.
Idowu emphasized the importance of mutual understanding and generosity, advising individuals to consider a potential partner’s behavior outside of the relationship as well as how they treat others.
“Leave dating alone, go and fix your selfishness first. Love doesn’t need to be asked. Love takes initiative,” he stressed.
Pastor Bolaji Idowu is right: selfishness can slowly weaken a relationship if it goes unaddressed. Healthy love takes honesty, understanding, and a willingness to grow. Instead of focusing only on what we want, we should reflect on our actions, work on ourselves, and make space for each other’s needs. A stronger relationship starts when both people choose growth over selfishness.
