Parents: The Hidden Catalyst Behind Today’s Monsters? – Etinosa Idemudia

Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has blamed parenting for societal delinquency, claiming that many fathers and mothers are the main culprits behind today’s “monsters” in society.

Etinosa called on the younger generation to end the generational cycle of corporal punishment and domestic abuse in a social media post.

Taking to her page, she wrote:

“Most mothers (n fathers) are the foundational/root cause of the mo.nsters we have in the society today

Our mothers accepted and “managed” with being beaten. They also didn’t train their sons against it because they accepted it as “normal.”

“Parents also beat their children for every little thing, making the children feel that that is the only way to be corrected hence passing that same culture of v!0lence/aggression to their own homes.

Hear me, I do not support gentle parenting but there are some extreme be.atings that are unnecessary, trauma inducing and damaging to a child’s future

This is a wake up call to the new generation of mothers (n fathers) we can do better.

By God’s grace”.

I firmly believe that children tend to imitate what they see their parents doing. Their behaviors are often reflections of the actions they observe at home. For instance, when I see kids bullying their classmates in school, I can’t help but think that such behavior is often learned from their parents’ interactions with each other. Children imitate their parents’ words, actions, and attitudes, which ultimately shape their own behavior. Therefore, it is crucial for parents to set positive examples, as their influence extends far beyond their immediate interactions and significantly impacts their children’s development.

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

QUOTES

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
