Oyebanji Meets ADC Candidate Bejide, Extends Post-Election Unity Drive In Ekiti

Ekiti state governor Oyebanji visits ADC candidate Dare Bejide, seeking bipartisan cooperation to foster unity, peace and sustainable development in Ekiti.

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in the recently concluded election, Ambassador Dare Bejide, as part of efforts to foster unity and promote inclusive governance in the state.

Governor Oyebanji, who visited Bejide at his residence in Ado-Ekiti, was accompanied by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Chief Jide Awe. He was received by the ADC candidate, with both leaders holding discussions focused on the development of Ekiti State.

The visit fulfils the governor’s pledge to engage all candidates who participated in the June 20 governorship election and seek their cooperation and contributions toward the governance and progress of the state.

Following the official declaration of the election results, Oyebanji had reached out by telephone to the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Wole Oluyede, and the ADC, Ambassador Bejide, assuring them that he would pay personal visits.

The governor had earlier visited Dr Oluyede at his residence alongside some PDP leaders before Monday’s meeting with the ADC candidate.

According to the governor’s office, the outreach forms part of Governor Oyebanji’s inclusive governance agenda aimed at strengthening unity, peace, mutual understanding and respect among political stakeholders, which it described as essential to achieving sustainable development and growth in Ekiti State.

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
