Osun Poll: Adeleke Seeks Tinubu’s Intervention, Campaign Council Clarifies Remarks

Campaign Council says Adeleke seeks President Tinubu’s intervention to guarantee peaceful, free and fair Osun governorship election process.

The Campaign Council of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has said the governor’s recent remarks were not directed at President Bola Tinubu but were an appeal for presidential intervention to ensure a peaceful, free and fair governorship election in the state.

In a statement, the council said Adeleke’s comments on Monday had been misrepresented by the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that the governor only expressed concern over alleged political violence, killings and intimidation of opposition members.

According to the statement, Adeleke’s call was aimed at preventing electoral malpractice and ensuring a credible poll.

The council said, “his remarks on Monday were not an attack on President Bola Tinubu, but an appeal for presidential intervention to ensure a peaceful, free and fair governorship election in Osun State.”

It also defended the governor’s warning against election rigging, saying it was based on concerns over alleged attacks on opposition supporters.

The statement added that the council had called on President Tinubu to intervene in the lingering local government dispute in the state.

Responding to allegations by the APC, the council rejected claims of financial mismanagement against the Adeleke administration.

It maintained that the state government remained committed to accountability, transparency and good governance.
