One Goal, Three Points: Diomande Leads Madrid Past Villarreal

In their La Liga match at the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday, 2026, Real Madrid to defeated Villarreal 1-0.

The game’s lone goal, Yan Diomande’s first for the team, came in the 62nd minute.

The Ivorian winger completed Federico Valverde’s pass.

After a VAR review, the goal—which had previously been disallowed for offside—was granted.

Around the 71st minute, Vinícius Júnior, a substitute in the second half, seemed to make it 2-0 following a move involving Jude Bellingham.

But after watching video of Vinícius yanking Villarreal midfielder Nathan Saliba’s hair during the build-up, VAR disallowed the goal.

Vinícius received a straight red card for violent behavior from the referee.

José Mourinho’s Real Madrid played the last few minutes with just ten players, but they managed to win. Later, as the team maintained their lead, Diomande was replaced.

Real Madrid now has three points in the eighth round of the 2026–2027 La Liga season.

Congratulations to Madrid on a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Villarreal, and to Diomande on scoring his first goal. A memorable milestone and three valuable points for the team!
