Omowunmi Dada Opens Up About Ending A Relationship Over Faith

Actress Omowunmi Dada has explained why she ended a relationship when her partner—who had initially claimed to be a Christian—started adhering to Islamic customs.

In an interview with VJ Adams, the actress revealed the information.

Dada claimed that although she first encountered the man as a Christian, she was surprised to learn that he was fasting during Ramadan.

She said, “I dated someone who, when I met him, was a Christian, and then sometime later Ramadan started, and he said he was fasting. I said, “Why?” and he said, “Because that is what will make his mom happy.” He said being a Muslim is what will make his mom happy. Right then, I knew I couldn’t be with him.

“I have nothing against Muslims; I have Muslim friends who are amazing people, by the way. But for the kind of family that I want to raise, I would love to raise my children the Christian way. I want to be able to hold hands with my husband in one faith, in unity as a family.”

Omowunmi Dada emphasized the importance of learning about a partner and their family before marriage. She said asking questions and making proper inquiries can help people understand the family’s history and avoid discovering unexpected issues only after they are married.
