Olamide Defends The Beauty Of Our Culture

Olamide Adedeji, a Nigerian rapper, has defended Nigerian customs and culture, arguing that they shouldn’t be viewed as evil or mocked.

Actress Sotayo Gaga posted a video of the YBNL boss’s comments on her Instagram page on Wednesday.

In the video, Olamide stated that encouraging Nigerian ancestry is crucial to assisting individuals in appreciating their cultural identity.

“Promoting the culture and trying to sensitise people that our culture and tradition are not diabolical and should not be demonised, and we are proud of who we are, our culture, and our heritage. I’m a Yoruba boy. If you give me black soap, I will collect it,” he said.

The rapper cited black soap, which the Yoruba refer to as “ose dudu,” as an example of a cultural product that he readily embraces.

Plantain skins, cocoa pods, and palm kernel oil are among the ingredients used to make black soap, a traditional skincare product from Africa. It’s frequently used for skincare and bathing.

Our culture is rich and meaningful, shaped by the history, values, and traditions of our people. Misconceptions about it should be challenged with understanding and respect, rather than used to condemn it. Culture is our way of life and an important part of who we are; it deserves to be valued, not demonized.

QUOTES

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

QUOTES

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
