Reports that Nigerian musician David Adeleke, better known by his stage name as Davido, was prohibited from entering the state by Governor Monday Okpebholo have been refuted by the Edo State Government.

The denial came after a widely shared video in which Pastor Kassy Chukwu, a governor’s assistant, asserted that Davido was prohibited from traveling to Edo State.

But Okpebholo distanced his administration from the accusation in a statement signed by Prince Kassim Afegbua, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, calling the person responsible for the alleged ban an impostor.

“Our enemies are at it again; we did not ban Davido from entering Edo State,” the statement said.

He described Davido as “one of our illustrious sons”, noting that the singer’s mother is from Edo State.

“Should he wish to visit Edo State, we would happily host and fete him.”

“As a government, we are pleased with his conduct, commitment and calculated conquest in the music industry. Indeed, we look forward to him being awarded a Grammy title.”

Everyone desires to have Davido in their corner, recognizing his influence, talent, and charisma. Davido’s presence is coveted, and many wish to be included in his book of life, celebrating his achievements and contributing to his legacy.
