Okonkwo Backs Atiku As The Leading Presidential Candidate

Published on

According to Kenneth Okonkwo, a spokesman for Atiku Abubakar’s ADC presidential campaign, Atiku is now the obvious leader that other contenders adhere to.

On Friday, he made the assertion in an online post.

After Atiku emerged as the ADC’s presidential candidate in July, Okonkwo, a former member of the Labor Party who had previously represented Peter Obi, was appointed to the position.

He claimed that during Atiku’s tenure as vise president from 1999 to 2007, Nigeria had its strongest economy.

He added that Atiku’s pledge to reinstate the gasoline subsidy demonstrates his humility and commitment to putting people first.

Ahead of the 2027 election, the debate over gas prices is becoming more heated.

He said;

“Atiku is now the clear leader whom other candidates are following in every important national discourse. As the head of the economic team, between 1999 and 2007, and as the VP of Nigeria, he built the strongest economy so far for Nigeria. They paid subsidy and paid off our international debt. Atiku is humane and humble. His promise to bring back subsidy is a reflection of his policy of putting people and their welfare first. Let us join hands and elect this great patriot into office come 16 January 2026 for the security and welfare of all Nigerians.”

In politics, it can be difficult to know what to say, but one thing is certain: party members often stand by and support their candidates. Okonkwo’s comments appear to reflect that loyalty as he voices his support for Atiku.
