Nollywood film Black Market breaks Guinness World Record after 51,000 viewers attend historic screening at Lagos’ Tafawa Balewa Square.
Nollywood has set a new Guinness World Record after 51,000 people attended a single-location screening of the film Black Market at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos.
The historic screening, held on Saturday, September 26, surpassed the previous record of 43,624 viewers set in 2015.
Guinness World Records confirmed that 51,000 attendees qualified for the record after remaining at the venue from the beginning of the film until the end.
Produced by Nora Awolowo and directed by Fatimah Binta Gimsay, Black Market became the first Nollywood production to achieve the feat.
The film features prominent Nigerian actors, including Omowunmi Dada, Lateef Adedimeji, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Scarlet Gomez and Susan Pwajok.
The record-breaking event drew thousands of film lovers to the Lagos venue, highlighting the growing influence and global recognition of Nigeria’s film industry.
