Nigeria’s Crude Oil Output Hits Six-Year High, Exceeds OPEC Quota

Nigeria exceeds 104% of its OPEC quota as crude oil production hits its highest monthly level in over six years.

Nigeria’s crude oil and gas production increased to an average of 1,735,398 barrels per day in June 2026, marking a fourth consecutive month of growth and pushing the country above its crude oil production quota set by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) for more than six years.

Data released by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency (NUPRC) indicated that crude oil production averaged 1.56 million barrels per day during the month, with condensate production at 0.18 million barrels per day.

This crude oil output means Nigeria achieved 104% of its 1.5 million barrels per day OPEC quota.

Excluding condensates, the average crude oil production of 1.56 million barrels per day is Nigeria’s highest monthly output since April 2020, marking a 74-month high.

Total crude oil and condensate production peaked at 1.89 million barrels per day in June, with the lowest daily figure at 1.57 million barrels per day.

Recent figures also show consistent production growth over the past five months. Average daily output rose from 1.483 million barrels per day in February to 1.546 million in March, 1.663 million in April, 1.700 million in May, and 1.735 million in June, reflecting a 2.2% month-on-month increase.

According to the NUPRC, the increased performance was driven by stable operations across most producing assets and the absence of major pipeline outages during the review period.

QUOTES

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

QUOTES

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
