During a Spanish second-division match between his club, Sabadell, and Albacete, Nigerian midfielder Quadri Liameed was kicked in the head and rendered unconscious.

In the 42nd minute of the match on Saturday at Carlos Belmonte Stadium, the 24-year-old sustained the injury.

As both players fought for the ball, Albacete forward José Corpas attempted a volley but hit Liameed in the head.

The moment the midfielder was struck hard just outside the box is captured in a widely shared video on Wednesday.

Medical staff from both clubs raced to Liameed’s aid after he collapsed on the field and momentarily lost consciousness.

After being fitted with a neck brace, he was transported by ambulance to Hospital Quirón Santa Cristina on a stretcher for a medical examination.

The match was halted for roughly nine minutes after Corpas received a straight red card for the challenge, according to Tribuna on Sunday.

Later, Sabadell verified that Liameed was awake and undergoing medical examinations; the preliminary test results were reported as positive.

“The best of the news has arrived!

“@Qlimeed has received medical discharge after all the tests have come out well and will return tonight to Sabadell!

“We want to thank the medical services of @AlbaceteBPSAD for the help received at all times,” the club said.

We are grateful for the medical personnel’s swift intervention and relieved that he is safe and sound.
