Made Clarifies Family Misconception About Kuti’s And Narcotics Use
Afrobeat musician Made Kuti has refuted the “misconception” that all Kuti family members are drug users.
Substances called narcotics are used to treat moderate to severe pain. Although they are not made from opium, they resemble opiates like morphine and codeine.
On the fringes of the US mission’s 250th Independence Day celebration in Lagos, the singer told TheCable Lifestyle that many people mistakenly believe he and his family members are drug users.
“A lot of people think I smoke, but I don’t, and even my dad has quit. So, there is a big misconception that the family are all into narcotics, but most of us are not,” he said.
When asked to describe himself in three words, Made chose “hardworking, loyal and passionate,” adding with a joke that “loyal” fits because “I’m a married man”.
“I think honestly we are very aware of the cultural issues we are facing and the economic issues we are facing, but something very important I will say is climate change,” he warned.
I really appreciate Made for stepping up and coming out to defend his family. It’s admirable to see him stand strong and protect his loved ones. I believe we should not judge his family based on what we knew in the past, but rather give them the chance to show who they truly are today. Families deserve understanding and support, and Made’s actions remind us of the importance of standing by those we care about.
