Leeds United defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at Elland Road on Saturday to snap their five-match Premier League losing streak.
In the 79th minute, substitute Noah Okafor scored the game-winning goal to give Daniel Farke’s team all three points and end Tottenham’s winning run.
Both teams were having trouble scoring at the half, and after the restart, Leeds applied more pressure.
Harry Wilson helped create the opportunity through a throw-in, and Okafor broke the impasse. Wilson set up the Swiss forward by bringing the ball down inside the penalty area. The forward took a touch and then fired across Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky into the bottom corner.
Wilson’s potential handball prompted a Video Assistant Referee to review the goal, but the referee decided to let it stand.
Conor Gallagher’s second-half attempt went just wide for Spurs, and Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford stopped Jan Paul van Hecke’s header from a corner.
Tottenham’s run of three straight league wins over Coventry City, Chelsea, and Crystal Palace came to an end with the loss.
Leeds won their first Premier League game since their 4-1 victory over Newcastle United in September. Prior to Saturday’s match, Leeds had lost five straight games.
Additionally, the outcome gave Farke’s team a big boost before the international break in November.
Congratulations to Leeds on a hard-fought 1–0 win over Tottenham. Ending their five-game winless run is a welcome boost for the team and their supporters, and they’ll be hoping to build on this result in the matches ahead.
