According to former president Goodluck Jonathan, politicians should prioritize Nigeria over their party.
He gave a speech on Tuesday in Abuja at the Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria’s Fifth National Conference.
Speaking on his behalf was Bala Ngilari, a former deputy governor of Adamawa State.
According to Jonathan, regional, religious, and ethnic divisions continue to impede the nation’s progress.
Nigeria must always be greater than any party, individual, or organization, according to him.
He urged the former deputy governors to unite and mentor the next generation of politicians by drawing on their experience.
He claimed to have learned patience, teamwork, and the importance of strong institutions during his tenure as deputy governor and governor of Bayelsa before rising to the position of vise president and eventually president.
Jonathan is right: politicians should put Nigerians’ interests before party politics. They must keep the people at heart and work together to ensure Nigeria is safe, stable, and thriving.
