In a dazzling celebration of elegance and talent, Joheirry Mola from the Dominican Republic was crowned Miss World 2026 on Saturday, September 5. The grand finale of the 73rd Miss World pageant was held in the lively city of Vietnam, bringing together women from around the world to compete for the esteemed title.
The event was further special with last year’s Miss World, Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand, passing on the crown and ushering in a new era for the pageant.
The competition was fierce, with participants displaying extraordinary skills and confidence. Joheirry was joined on the podium by Elisabeth R Alabern from Spain, the first runner-up, and Taanusiya Chetty from Malaysia, the second runner-up, both representing resilience and national pride.
This year’s contest began with a strong field of 111 contestants on August 9, each showcasing their unique talents and stories. Although India’s Nikita advanced into the final stages, she did not reach the top 20, but her journey on this global platform remains a notable achievement.
A highlight of this year’s pageant was the impactful fashion showcased by contestants, notably Ugandan delegate Elle Muhoza. Her striking gown, “The Layers of Life,” designed by Keesha Abdallah, paid tribute to childbirth. The dress, layered in white, yellow, pink, and red, symbolized the seven stages medical professionals navigate during a C-section, emphasizing the beauty and complexity of life’s beginnings.
The competition’s Top 20 featured inspiring women from Zimbabwe, Zambia, Senegal, Kenya, South Africa, Peru, the USA, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Malaysia, the Philippines, the Cook Islands, China, Vietnam, France, Spain, Belgium, Gibraltar, and Ukraine. Each contestant shared her unique story, making this event a celebration of diversity, empowerment, and international unity.
