Hakainde Hichilema Secures Second Term As President Of Zambia

According to results announced by the electoral commission on Tuesday, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema has won a second term in office after winning the nation’s most recent presidential election.

According to the results, Hichilema received roughly 60% of the vote, while his closest opponent, Brian Mundubile, received about 38%.

After taking office in 2021, the 64-year-old president now has an additional five-year term thanks to the victory.

However, claims that the campaign was held on an unfair playing field by opposition parties and observers cast a shadow over the election.

Several opposition figures were still detained by the police after being arrested on suspicion of militia and insurgent activity, and the opposition accused authorities of intimidating them and restricting their activities.

Reacting to his victory, Hichilema thanked Zambians for their confidence in his leadership and extended an olive branch to those who supported his opponents.

“We are truly humbled by the trust you have placed in our hands.”

“To those citizens who preferred the ideas presented by our opponents, we hear you, and we will continue to work for you.”

“Now we must work harder than ever before to deliver meaningful development for every single Zambian, in every corner of our country,” he said.

Congratulations to President Hakainde Hichilema on his well-deserved re-election. Wishing you success in your second term as you work towards a prosperous and united nation.

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

QUOTES

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
