Election Tensions Surge As Suspected APC Thugs Kill Accord Party Member On Gubernatorial Eve

Published on

A day prior to the state’s governorship election, a member of the Accord Party in Osun State is said to have been murdered by suspected thugs connected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to sources who spoke to SaharaReporters, the incident happened in the Omi Eran Atijo community in Osun State on Friday morning at around six in the morning.

The victim was pursued by the alleged attackers before being apprehended and killed, a person with knowledge of the incident told SaharaReporters.

The deceased’s body is seen in a video that SaharaReporters was able to obtain, lying lifeless in a drainage system with a pool of blood surrounding it.

Prior to the election, the killing has sparked new worries about Osun State’s security situation.

A source said; “I’m not okay as I am speaking to you. The man they killed was very close to me. They killed him, and he had a wife and children.”

It is truly heartbreaking to see lives being lost over political differences. Must lives be taken just because of an election? I sincerely pray and hope that the security personnel will come in quickly to restore peace and ensure that tomorrow’s election proceeds smoothly without further violence. Every effort should be made to protect innocent lives and uphold the integrity of the democratic process.
