Delta APC Speaks Out Against Violence At NDC Event In Asaba

Published on

The violence that broke out during the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) political procession along Nnebisi Road in Asaba on Saturday, November 7, 2026, has been strongly denounced by the Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council.

The Council expressed its profound sadness over reports of fatalities, injuries, and property damage resulting from the regrettable incident in a statement released by Media Committee Chairman Charles Aniagwu.

“The family of the deceased, the injured, and everyone impacted by this unfortunate development are in our thoughts and prayers. No citizen’s life should be sacrificed for political ambition or disagreement, and no political dispute should ever turn violent. The declaration also included

“It is important to reiterate that, from the very outset of our political mobilisation, particularly at the inauguration of the Delta State APC Campaign Council, our leadership made an unequivocal commitment to peaceful, responsible and issue-based campaigns. That commitment remains unwavering. Our campaign philosophy is anchored on presenting our achievements, programmes, vision and policy alternatives to the good people of Delta State, and we have no intention of deviating from that path”.

We demand that the Delta State Police Command conduct a comprehensive, open, and unbiased investigation into the incident, identify all parties involved, determine the circumstances surrounding the violence, and prosecute anyone found guilty, including sponsors or instigators. No one should be exempt from the repercussions of criminal activity due to their political influence or affiliation.

The Delta State APC Campaign Council is still dedicated to issue-based campaigns, nonviolent political participation, and safeguarding the security, peace, and interests of all Deltans.

The recurring violence raises a troubling question: when will it stop? Political parties and their supporters must reject intimidation and violence, respect one another, and allow voters to make their choices freely. Delta State deserves a peaceful process and a free, fair, and credible election.
