Cross River Governor Urges Peace And Unity During Eid-el-Maulud

The governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu, has called on Muslims in the state and throughout Nigeria to be inspired by the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad by advocating for tolerance, compassion, peace, and humanitarian service.

In a statement released on Tuesday in honor of Eid-el-Maulud, Otu made the request through Linus Obogo, his Chief Press Secretary and Special Advisor on Media and Publicity.

According to the governor, the birth of Prophet Muhammad was a fortunate event that gave Muslims and all people a chance to consider the timeless qualities of faith, humility, sacrifice, and devotion that defined the Prophet’s life.

The statement read, “The life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad remains an enduring testament to faith, compassion, humility, sacrifice and unyielding devotion to the service of humanity.”

“This sacred celebration offers us a moment to reflect anew on the profound virtues he embodied: love for neighbour, generosity to the vulnerable, justice for all and peaceful coexistence.”

“We shall continue to cherish the rich tapestry of our diversity and promote an environment in which every citizen, regardless of faith or background, can live with dignity, security and a profound sense of belonging.”

“Let the spirit of Maulud transcend the festivities, becoming a living call to kindness, tolerance, peaceful coexistence and service to humanity.”

“May the noble lessons of the Prophet Muhammad continue to guide us towards a more united, peaceful and prosperous Cross River State.”

May this Eid-el-Maulud bring peace, joy, and prosperity to all Muslims. May it strengthen bonds of love and unity within communities, and inspire us to embody compassion, kindness, and understanding. Wishing everyone a blessed and joyful celebration.
