Bauchi Shock: Elderly Man Allegedly Abuses 8-Year-Old Girl
Usman Abubakar, 70, was taken into custody by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly defiling an eight-year-old girl in the Tsakanin Bayara neighborhood of Bauchi.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Nafiu Habib, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, said in a statement that the suspect was taken into custody after the victim’s 48-year-old father filed a complaint at Yelwa’s “E” Division on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
The father accused the suspect, who lives nearby, of luring his daughter to an unfinished building on Sunday, August 24, where he allegedly s*xually assaulted her, according to the police.
According to the Command, as soon as they received the report, their agents took action and detained the suspect.
The victim was brought to the Police Clinic for a medical examination and any required treatment after the incident.
The alleged offense was denounced by Police Commissioner CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, who also promised the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted.
According to the Command, the case has been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, for covert investigation and prosecution.
In addition to reminding parents, guardians, and the general public to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity to the closest police station, the police reaffirmed their zero tolerance policy for s*xual assault and child abuse.
This situation is truly absurd and deeply disturbing. It is unimaginable why any man would want to ruin a child’s life by forcing himself on her. Such acts of cruelty and abuse are unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest terms. The perpetrator should face the full weight of the law and serve as a stark warning to others who might consider indulging in similar heinous acts. Justice must be served to protect our children and ensure they can grow up in a safe and nurturing environment.
