Niger Governor Mohammed Bago says the state will mobilise two million votes for Tinubu in 2027, citing grassroots mobilisation and government performance.
Niger State Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Bago, has said the state would deliver two million votes out of the over 2.9m registered voters in the state to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Bago, who disclosed this while inaugurating a 525 man campaign council for the state, said the target would be met by mobilising voters from the grassroots up to the state headquarters.
He argued that if every member of the campaign council would bring his or her votes, “it would give us more than 1 million votes. But our target is beyond that. The ambition this time around is to bring out over 2 million votes, and by the grace of God we will do that.”
He called for constructive media coverage but warned against overheating the polity or triggering insecurity, saying the campaign should highlight federal government’s economic policies, improved revenue and job creation.
The governor noted the infrastructure and security gains, including better roads and freer movement of goods in parts of the state as part of what the government had done which should be the focus of the campaign council.
He announced that the North Central Presidential Campaign office in Minna would be commissioned next week, with possible attendance by the President, Vice President, Senate President, Speaker or National Chairman.
The Minister of Information, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, praised the choice of the leadership of the council, adding that the APC would campaign on the administration’s record of transforming the National economy over the past three and a half years.
He urged the newly appointed members to prioritise the collective good of the state and party unity from top to bottom.
Director-General of the campaign council, Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto, accepted the assignment on behalf of members, pledging hard work, strategic coordination, grassroots engagement, unity, discipline and compliance with electoral guidelines.
Ibeto said the council would establish operational frameworks across directorates, local governments, wards and units, and would value experience while welcoming new ideas.
