APC Dominates Kogi Local Government Elections

In the Kogi State local government election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) won 239 council seats and all 21 local government chairmanship seats.

The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) held the elections on Saturday.

Following the collation process, the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) announced the results at its Lokoja headquarters.

Mamman Nda-Eri, the chairman of KOSIEC, announced the results, stating that the APC had won every chairmanship and council seat in the state’s 239 wards and 21 local government areas.

He said that the election was conducted in accordance with the electoral guidelines and that it was credible and peaceful. Additionally, he praised voters, journalists, security personnel, and observers for their orderly behavior.

Nda-Eri claims that the polls’ conclusion signified the completion of the 13 tasks that the commission had set forth for the 2026 local government elections, which had started nearly a year earlier.

In due course, he said, the winners would receive Certificates of Return.

According to the state’s electoral law, the departing chairmen and council members, who were sworn in on October 23, 2024, are anticipated to step down this month at the conclusion of their two-year terms.

Congratulations to all the APC candidates who won across Kogi State’s 21 local government areas. We wish them peaceful and successful tenures, and urge them to serve with integrity, work hard, and deliver on the trust placed in them by the people.

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
