Anambra Govt Urges APGA Supporters To Resist Peter Obi, NDC Ahead Of 2027 Elections

Anambra government accuses Peter Obi of seeking to undermine APGA, urging supporters to defend the party ahead of 2027.

The Anambra State Government has urged supporters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to defend the party and resist the New Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

The state government made the call in a post titled “A Betrayal Alert for Ndi APGA” published on Monday via X, accusing former Anambra governor and NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi of working to undermine APGA since 2014.

“A vote for Peter Obi and the NDC is a vote to kill APGA,” the government said.

It alleged that Obi had “one mission” since 2014 — to destroy APGA, the party that produced him as governor of Anambra State.

The government further claimed that while President Bola Tinubu supported APGA in 2025, Obi backed efforts to undermine the party.

“Do not be deceived by a man who abandoned his own house. Anambra is APGA. Ndi APGA, defend your home. Resist the NDC,” it said.

Obi served as governor of Anambra State from March 2006 to March 2014, although his first term was interrupted by his impeachment in November 2006. He formally left APGA in October 2014 and joined the Peoples Democratic Party.

He later left the PDP in May 2022 to contest the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the Labour Party, finishing third behind Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, who was declared the winner.

In December 2025, Obi left the Labour Party and joined the African Democratic Congress. Nearly five months later, he and former New Nigeria Peoples Party presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso formally announced their defection to the NDC.
