Amaechi Warmly Predicts Atiku Will Bring Back Electricity Subsidy As President

Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress’s (ADC) presidential candidate, will reinstate electricity subsidies if elected, according to Rotimi Amaechi, the party’s vise presidential candidate.

Amaechi delivered Atiku’s campaign message to locals on Thursday while making ward visits throughout Rivers State’s Omuma Local Government Area (ONELGA).

“Atiku said I should tell you people that he will bring back the subsidy. Tinubu removed subsidy for electricity bill. He said Band A, B and C.”

“My house electricity bill was N500,000; now I pay N4 million. Atiku said if he comes, I will go back to N500,000. No more band A and B because government will subsidise it.”

“He (Tinubu) just held microphone and didn’t care. He just said remove subsidy. Since he removed subsidy, transportation increased, food prices increased — tomatoes, corn, everything,” he said.

“Insecurity also increased. You no even fit go farm, and government doesn’t care. Atiku said he will bring back subsidy. If Atiku brings back subsidy, everything will come down.”

We sincerely hope that they follow through on their promises during their campaigns. The current electricity situation remains frustrating, with bills soaring and little relief in sight. As consumers, we are not enjoying the benefits of stable and affordable power, and we hope these commitments translate into real action to improve our lives.

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
