ADC Dissolves Kano Executive, Moves To Announce Governorship Candidate
The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has dissolved the Kano State Executive Committee and sworn in a Caretaker Committee to oversee the party’s affairs pending the election of new executives and the announcement of its governorship flagbearer.
This was announced by the Deputy National Chairman of the party, Northwest, Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad, at a press briefing in Kano on Monday.
According to her, every action taken in the process regarding the caretaker committee was guided by the Constitution of the party and the Electoral Act.
“Our Constitution exists precisely for moments such as this. It provides a lawful path to restore stability, preserve continuity and ensure that the activities of the party continue uninterrupted. That is exactly what has been done,” Naja’atu stated.
Reminding the newly appointed members of the committee of their responsibilities, the Deputy National Chairman said they have an enormous task to ensure the objectives of the party are achieved in the state.
“To every member of the newly inaugurated Caretaker Committee, I say this: remember always that leadership is a trust, not a privilege. Lead with patience. Lead with restraint. Lead with justice. Listen before you decide. Consult before you act. Unite before you organise.”
Speaking on the dispute over the party’s authentic governorship flagbearer, Naja’atu said a committee had been constituted to resolve the disagreement between aspirants Alhaji Ibrahim Little and Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil.
She added that the committee would soon announce the governorship candidate in line with the directive of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
She accused the other contending aspirant, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, of publicly supporting President Bola Tinubu instead of the ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
