The African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, former vise president Atiku Abubakar, has been urged to drop out of the 2027 presidential contest by Nigeria Democratic Congress vise presidential candidate Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Atiku should instead concentrate on his traditional duties, Kwankwaso said during a visit from Fulani Farmers Association members at his Abuja home.
He urged supporters of the ADC candidate to persuade Atiku to withdraw from the presidential race, citing Atiku’s age and health as additional justifications.
“Go to the Wazirin of Adamawa’s house and tell him in Fulani that he needs to focus on his traditional title of Wazirin, given his age and health,” said the former governor of Kano state.
“If Allah grants us success, we will take good care of him, especially since you all come from Adamawa. An apology should be offered to him,” he said.
I believe that Kwankwaso was likely joking with his statement, as it seems more like a rhetorical remark rather than a serious call for Atiku to quit the race. Given the context and the tone of his remarks, it appears to be a humorous or provocative comment rather than a genuine plea.
