Arsenal’s Premier League title parade through north London was marred by disturbances as local authorities confirmed multiple arrests amid the massive celebrations.

According to reports from The Guardian, hundreds of thousands of fans flooded the streets of Islington to catch a glimpse of the open-top bus parade, which also celebrated the women’s team lifting the Champions Cup.

While the historic event passed mostly in a celebratory spirit, a significant police presence was required to manage the escalating crowd behaviour.

According to an official statement released by the Metropolitan Police on X, officers initially made nine arrests by 6:00 pm across the parade footprint.

The initial charges included drunk and disorderly behaviour, drug offences, sexual assault, and the assault of emergency workers.

Tensions escalated later in the evening as crowds remained heavily concentrated around the Emirates Stadium.

In a subsequent update at 8:27 pm, the Metropolitan Police reported further instances of officers being assaulted and warned that anti-social behaviour or criminality would not be tolerated.

The Athletic noted that the total number of arrests eventually rose to 16 as police deployed dispersal powers to restore order.
